What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2016 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I strongly oppose abortion. Life begins at conception and we must stop the killing of innocent children.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Raising taxes does not solve our problem. To inject money back into our economy and help businesses grow that would hire more Americans and put our people back to work, lowering taxes will help accomplish this.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
Yes Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Our tax system needs to be completely overhauled. I support lowering taxes to a flat-tax system for all Americans. The tax code needs to be simple and easy for everyone, while making it a level playing field for all. The corporate tax code also needs to be reformed and moved to a flat-tax because it's among the highest in the world. These reforms would ignite our economy and move us towards full employment.
No Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
The federal government needs to get out of the education business and return control to the local level. We need our kids to be educated, not trained on how to take a specific test.
Yes Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
No Do you support funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
No Do you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry?
I support an all-of-the-above energy policy. It is not the job of the government to pick winners and losers in any industry. There should always be just enough regulation in place in order to keep people and the environment safe, but the government should not exceed that authority.
No Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
The EPA and the Obama administration have overstepped their authority and attempted to impose regulations that, even according to scientific experts, would not have any significant impact on the environment. So I would not support these new regulations because the only thing that we know it would do is hurt our businesses and the economy.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
We need to enforce the laws that are already in place. Imposing stricter laws on law-abiding citizens makes no sense. The focus should be on the people who carry out these violent acts and the crime being committed. The second amendment cannot be infringed upon and must be protected.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Absolutely. This tax is decimating our healthcare system and forcing costs across the board to go up. This is not the answer and Republicans need to come up with a response and a solution that will keep government out of our healthcare system.
Yes Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
We are a nation of laws, and this does not make us any less compassionate. Illegal immigrants should not be rewarded for breaking the law. Sending this kind of message to the world that breaking the law works in America will cause tremendous problems for our country for decades to come.
No Do you support same-sex marriage?
I believe in the biblical definition of marriage. Marriage is and has always been defined as being between one man and one woman. Period.
Yes Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
Yes Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
The U.S. must be a strong force for peace and freedom in the world. This is projected from our leaders. Right now we don't have that at all. Which is why we see a constant challenge to our authority by Iran and Russia. If we had strong leadership, these countries would not be challenging us the way that they are and military force would be considered less and less. I would favor covert tactics to prevent nuclear weapons like Israel does first. Military force should only be used if absolutely necessary.
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
We must stand with seniors and fulfill our obligation to take care of them. For future generations, social security won't be there. Government has a reputation for mishandling money. They are not investors and they continually steal from social security to fund other programs. This money belongs to the people and should be given back to the people and put into personal retirement accounts. One less thing for the government to control is a good thing. Retirement should be in the hands of the people, because its their money.

We are in the midst of a budget crisis. The government cannot continue to borrow millions from China and then give it away to other countries. The primary role of government is to protect the people and keep them safe. So the primary expenditure is going to be defense. Every American has to balance their checkbook, the government should be held accountable to do the same.
The government is always talking about ways to inject money into the economy and ways to get the economy moving. Imagine if a flat-tax were introduced, corporate taxes were lowered, and the tax code simplified. No more loopholes, everyone is on the same level playing field, and every person pays the same percentage. This would be an instant shot into the arm of every single American, an instant pay raise across the board, higher spending, more companies hiring, and an economic boom like we've never seen.
The biggest priority is immigration, taxes, and spending. First, before we can do anything on immigration, we must build a wall and secure the border. Then we make immigration reform, strengthen our E-verify system so no illegal immigrant can take hard working American jobs. I would also reform the tax code and make it so simple that anyone can do it. A simple flat-tax percentage, no more loopholes, no need for deductions because of the low rate, and reining in our out of control spending.
